June 2015:

THE FRANKLIN MONROE SCHOOL DISTRICT FFA MAKES ANOTHER HUGE DONATION DOG FOOD TO THE DARKE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER:

The Franklin Monroe FFA made another wonderful donation to the Darke County Animal Shelter. The FFA donated over 400 pounds of dog food to the Shelter. This is the second donation in the past 3 months. This was a community service project for the 4th 9 weeks. It was spear headed by Daryl Goodwin and the members of the FFA. This is a huge help for the Shelter. The dog food will be used to feed the animals at the Shelter. Through their kind and thoughtful donation we will have a bunch of happy 4 legged friends.

WILD FLOWER GARDEN CLUB AND THE DARKE COUNTY 4H BEEF CLUB JOIN FORCES TO PLANT TREES AT THE DARKE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER

The Darke County Animal Shelter has a new look, “trees”. The Wild Flower Garden Club donated 5 Scott Pine trees to the Darke County Animal Shelter. They also landscaped the flower beds and planted flowers. The Wild Flower Garden Club has made a huge impact at the Shelter and they need to be commended. When the 5 new Pine trees arrived we needed to find someone to plant them. Jennifer Rhoades and the Darke County 4H Beef Club had the answer. On Tuesday evening the Beef Club came to the Shelter and planted all of the trees. There were over 50 Beef Club members at the Shelter with shovels in hand. They planted the trees, watered them and also put down mulch. To top it all off, they donated over 300 pounds of dog food to the Shelter. At the end of the evening they all went over to Scentral Park, our new dog park, and had some fun.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to both the Wild Flower Garden Club and the Darke County 4H Beef Club for all of their fabulous help and work. These two groups are a prime example of the kind of citizens, neighbors and families Darke County has in its presents.

Thank You
